IF I DIE TONIGHT

graveyard_2-wallpaper-1920x1080Have you ever noticed that when people know that are going to die, the things they say becomes different, they tend to speak in proverbs, for elderly ones or those with spouses or children, they speak blessings and give instructions.

I did a post a long time ago where I featured popular dying words, you can click HERE to read it.

The last words I remember from my late brother are; “Don’t worry, If I die, I’ll come back to life”, this was in his hospital bed when he was just 19 plus years old, 3 days before passed away. You can read more about that and other similar posts in the series ABOUT THE DEATH OF A LOVED ONE, I bet you’ll have a thing or two to learn.

Anyways, I didn’t understand what he meant back then, and I even fought my parents and other elderly folks in church for being unbelieving in God’s resurrection power, stating that my brother already prophesied his resurrection, but I was wrong, remember what Jesus said in John 11:25-26;

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.”

This post was inspired by a song by Lecrae with the same titles as this post, where he more or less gave his last/dying words, here are excerpts;

If I die tonight, I gon’ know that I gave this with my everything

If I die tonight, you ain’t gotta cry cause I know that Heaven wins

And tell my girl, “Don’t cry for me” Cause I’m right here beside the King…

…I could have spent my time on that back nine smoking on the Cuban, sipping red wine. I could of hit the streets and done fed time, but my life ain’t mine, it’s His time

So, I ain’t tryna waste my minutes…

I know we all shy away from the thought of death, death is not an enemy when you have a hope to a life eternal in glory with your love, Lord and maker. A believer who dies in faith is not a victim.

If you know that you will die tonight, what will your last thoughts, last actions, last words be? I bet so many things that are important to you know will mean nothing, and some other things you have pushed down closet will matter more. Please, I implore you to give this a very deep thought, WHAT WOULD YOU RATHER LIKE YOUR LASTS WORD TO BE, regardless of how and where you are right now?

It is better to go to a home where there is mourning than to one where there is a party, because the living should always remind themselves that death is waiting for us all…Someone who is always thinking about happiness is a fool. A wise person thinks about death. Ecc 7:2,4

I doubt if there is any better way of putting it other than how Solomon did. We all like to avoid questions, especially the direct ones that exposes our weaknesses and unpreparedness (a post on that is coming soon), but you become better and wiser when you successfully tackle it. I believe the same goes for the question in this post.

You still have enough time before tonight to make the major amends in your life as the thought to the question posed in this post will reveal. I really hope to hear your thought, feel free to leave a comment. If it requires me to send you a reply mail directly to your mail box for more personal talk, I’ll gladly do that.

Thank you.
