Taking Ownership Of Your Actions – The Journey to Significance

Our differing  backgrounds and varying  circumstances may influence who we are but we are responsible for who we become.

Our productivity is as a result of our responsibilities. Taking ownership is simply being responsible. People shy away from taking responsibilities  and this is because they don’t want to be accountable for anything even for their own actions.
Are you working on a project, waiting on someone else to take initiative to get things moving? Or do you have so many plans waiting for someone to help you take action?
One major problem we have is waiting for someone else to act, assume, take initative or take charge. In reality, that doesn’t happen. It’s very hard to find somebody more inspired or gingered than you are.
So if you think someone is coming or help is coming from somewhere, you need to wake up. As much as you need help, one major help you can have is to help yourself first. Take ownership, take responsibility for your actions. Taking ownership of your actions (taking responsibility) is one of the first step to developing a healthy sense of self.
This is a liberating concept. Help is not coming. The responsibility is yours, and it starts with developing a belief or habit of mind that you, as an individual, are accountable for the quality and timeliness of an outcome, even when you’re working with others. It doesn’t always mean you have authority over a project. Nor does it mean that you shouldn’t involve others. But it does mean you own the personal obligation and commitment to take action and deliver results.
It is futile to expect others to do what you can do for yourself. Take ownership of your life! Regain your self-respect!
Even the prayer that makes God fully responsible is an irresponsible prayer. Some people will be like “I Need God’s help” , yes you do, but God does not help irresponsible people neither does he help people waiting for a miracle to happen without doing anything. Some funny people will go further by saying “God will do it”.  From Scriptures, God has done all that He wants to do in your life and He is not known for procrastination. On the cross when He said “It is finished”, He truly meant it. It’s time for us to have a perception change, many people are just ignorant of the truth.
What are you really afraid of that makes you not to take initiative?
We are in a society where so many young people don’t take initiatives and that is why the statistics of unemployable graduates are high. From their tests, exams, projects, they never took initiative, they can’t read, they can’t sit down to do something. They jump from place to place, doing nothing. How on earth to you want to make a difference?
Friends, take ownership of your actions today.  Stop looking for who to blame. When you do something right or wrong, take responsibility for it. A leader may be responsible for a situation even if it’s not his fault. The blame doesn’t matter.
In the words of Abraham Lincoln, “Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.” All of us can think of many times when the leaders we admired declined to wait for help and instead pioneered solutions. It’s only when we, as individuals, take full responsibility for a problem that we focus our full attention on it and feel the pressure to drive results.
By owning a problem and taking action, we can help others
In a world full of problems which gets complex day by day, only those who live as if help is not coming are the ones who come up with innovative solutions
Living with responsibility makes us stronger and more action-oriented individuals. Focusing on responsibility and taking ownership of your actions offers a sense of peace.
It’s up to you to make change and take responsibility for outcomes in your personal and professional life.
What are you waiting for?

Have a great week.

God Bless you.
