Que sarah, sarah! Ohh Sorry!!! “Que sera, sera” With all due respect to two great songwriters Jay Livingston and Ray Evans whose song made this phrase popular through Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)” released in 1956. These songwriters personal opinion has been the reason for the failure of many or for them not achieving their goals, simply because they were given a reason not to pursue their dreams but rather sit down and wait for it to come to them. I personally believe that it is a wrong belief and it has found its way into the mouth and mind of most people.
This saying is not only against spiritual laws (by spiritual I mean scriptural which I will be writing on in my next post) but even physical laws. For instance, the law of Karma, Karma is the Sanskrit word for action. It is equivalent to Newton’s law of ‘every action must have a reaction’. “As you sow, so shall you reap”. This is also known as the “Law of Cause and Effect”. Whatever we put out in the Universe is what comes back to us. This in no way sounds like “whatever will be, will be”, but rather, what will be is what you make be; a result of your action or inaction.
Looking at “Que sera, sera” in the light of “As you sow, so shall you reap” it’s like leaving your field uncultivated and saying if coffee is meant to grow on the land it will.
“What will be, will be” has become the reason many have left their lives to chance and thus get nothing out life. Que sera, sera is an excuse for the lazy, you are the author of your life’s experience.
