Do you know there are things to take with you to church? The church, among other things, can be likened to a school or a training centre. In fact, the Bible tells us that we are given ministry gifts for our training and equipment for ministry (Eph 4:11-14).
Therefore, to learn well from them, take these 4 things with you to church:
1. Writing materials
According to a Chinese Proverb, the faintest ink is more powerful than the strongest memory. It just goes to say that no matter how photographic your memory is, it can fail you unless you’re Michael Ross.
As said earlier, the church can be likened to a school. No one is supposed to go to a place of learning without materials to take notes with, that shows a lack of seriousness and devotion.

Remember that with every teaching is an opportunity to grow in the knowledge of God, you ought to take that seriously.
2. Bible
Just as there are textbooks and reference books used in any school, the Bible serves that purpose when we come to church.
The Bible is the very foundation and source of the teaching. It would therefore not be responsible of you to go to church without one. Having your own Bible helps you take note of reference passages later.

Click To TweetFor example, if during a teaching, a Greek word is explained in a particular passage, whenever that word is used again in scriptures you’d be able to correctly interpret what the text says because you’ve come across such a word before, taken note of it and how it was used in the passage.
Also, having your own Bible helps you understand better the teaching. In addition, it helps you grow in Biblical interpretations.
3. Your attention and zeal
It is important to note that church isn’t somewhere you go just because it’s Sunday. At church, you’re edified and taught. This, therefore, means that your attention and contribution are important for learning. Remember that it is the students who pay attention in class that would understand and profit from the teaching.
So don’t be distracted. Give your attention to the teaching of word of God. Church service is not the time to reply to Whatsapp messages or play games.

Remember that your devotion could even be encouraging another person during service. Finally, if your heart is in all that you do, it’ll show.
4. Offering
When you come to church, it’s an opportunity to give. The Early Church gave like we do nowadays. (1 Corinthians 16:2)
Reasons to give include payment for rent, evangelism, meeting the needs of others, and so on.
When you give, you’re sponsoring the spread of the Gospel. You are giving others the opportunity to learn about the Gospel. No matter your capacity, give the best you can with every opportunity, and give with purpose in mind.
