5 Reasons You Should Laugh Today!

When was the last time you had a really good and throaty laugh? I’m talking about a really deep-throaty-teary eye-water coming from your nose, about–to–wet–your–pants, body-vibrating kind of laugh?

It is important that as much as possible, you enjoy laughing no matter what the situation around you might say,

Even God, who has the most difficult job ever; watching over this world of chaos enjoys a laugh too. “The One enthroned in heaven laughs…” – Psalm 2:4 (NIV), how much more you.

“Laughter is the best medicine” is a popular cliché that has been so used that the depth of truth in the saying has almost washed away. Thankfully, the truth in the statement still rings true as the scripture also confirms it, “A cheerful heart is good medicine…” – Proverbs 17:22 (NIV).

Laughing has as much physical benefit as spiritual benefits, it is pertinent that you laugh today!

Here are 5 reasons you should laugh today.

1. LAUGHTER HELPS YOU LIVE LONGER.

Do you know that laughing has a great effect on your respiratory system, blood flow and brains to, all which contribute to your life span.  Proverbs 14:30 says, “A relaxed attitude lengthens a man’s life.” (TLB)

Laughter usually triggers the dilation or expansion of the tissue that forms the inner lining of blood vessels thereby increasing blood flow. Laughing helps to regulate breathing and flush out the lungs. It leads to an immediate increase in heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen consumption. Laughter allows you to breathe deeper, an also improve your respiratory health especially for those with respiratory ailments such as asthma.

So, you want to live longer, laugh today!

2. LAUGHTER IMPROVES YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

A sense of humor is  very important in interpersonal relationships and attraction. A healthy senses of humor helps to bond friends and family.

Nobody wants to be around someone who is always moody or grumpy.

As laughing can be contagious, you will find out that you help others loosen up and you help lift their mood too. You will be seen as a positive and humorous influence.

3. LAUGHTER MAKES YOU MORE ATTRACTIVE.

Did you know that before now? How often you laugh has an effect on how attractive you are to people. Guys generally like girls that laugh at their jokes, and girls like guys with a healthy sense of humor.

Interaction with others is easier and more enjoyable when laughing is involved, being contagious, it makes others feel better too, and make you a more appealing and attractive person to be around.

4. LAUGHTER LOWERS YOUR STRESS AND ANXIETY LEVELS.

Stressful encounters in everyday life gradually chips away at the immune system thereby  increasing the risk of infectious illness and heart disease. A good sense of humor prevents stress from affecting the immune system, protecting you from disease.

A good laugh can help you release emotions, especially those emotions that might have been bottled up inside. Things look better after a laugh.

5. LAUGHTER PROMOTES CREATIVITY AND LEARNING.

Students will most likely learn better from a teacher who uses laughter and humor to pass his message. Laughter helps to break up the routine and help student relax thereby helping them absorb learning better. Laughing can also help see things from another perspective thereby enhancing creativity.

Here is my piece of advice: Learn to laugh. You could go for a comedy show visit/follow a comedy blog, read a funny book, smile at people you meet and yeah, smile at yourself in the mirror from time to time.

Laughter is relaxing and healing and it is a buffer to all the stress the world throws your way. Click To Tweet
