Hello friends, its Christians in sports once again and I hope so far we have been encouraged and inspired by the lives of the two athletes talked about so far- David Luiz(footballer) and Tim Tebow(American football player). Without further ado, let us make welcome our athlete today, JEREMY LIN.
NAME: Jeremy Shu-How Lin
Date of Birth: August 23, 1988
Sport: Basketball
Position: Pointguard
Jeremy Lin is an Asian American and one of the few Asian Americans to have played/playing in the NBA (National Basketball Association). Jeremy lin was born and raised in a christian home by Taiwanese parents who emigrated from Taiwan to the United states. Jeremy Lin currently plays with the Charlotte Hornets.
Jeremy Lin came into prominence when during the 2011-2012 season of the NBA, he helped and rallied his team the New York Knicks to a seven-game winning streak thereby helping them reach the NBA playoffs(the playoffs is a kind of final). Because of this feat, the seven-game winning streak he had with his team was dubbed ‘LINSANITY’. A documentary with the same name was made about him that year. Jeremy Lin is also known as the Taiwanese Tebow.
Jeremy Lin is known for his public expression of his Christian faith, as it should be for every genuine Christian who have accepted Jesus as their personal lord and savior.
You’ll be glad to know what his twitter bio is; to know Him is to want to know Him more. That’s being unashamed of the gospel.
According to some of his fans, apart from being a very good basketball player, they said he is very humble and that some nights before going to bed, Jeremy Lin would tweet “God is Great”. In most of his interviews if not all, he never fails to mention the favor of God in his life.
He has said that his purpose on earth is to glorify God in what he does, and also, that he believes in the all-powerful and all-knowing God who performs miracles
When asked about his life verses in an interview with ‘The Christian Post’, he mentioned the scriptures Romans 5:3-5 and Romans 8:28
Romans 5:3-5 : And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Romans 8:28 : And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
This scripture talks about God’s perfect plan for those who love Him.
When asked; “Yo man, who’s your favorite Christian music artist you listen to?! pre-game music?!”, Jeremy replied, “My answer to both questions would be casting crowns, chris tomlin, hillsong, shane & shane, mercy me“.
Three years after the ‘LINSANITY’ period, Jeremy Lin has stated it has been very difficult having lost his starting position and also a decrease in his stats, endorsements and popularity. He said that this made him sad and angry but he realized and felt God’s love and he knows God has the ability to turn a bad situation into a good one.

Some Jeremy Lin’s Quotes:
In conclusion, Jeremy Lin is an evangelical Christian like Tim Tebow who hopes to become a pastor who can head up non-profit organisations both home and abroad . I hope we have been inspired once again by today’s athlete, Jeremy Lin.
Every opportunity we have, including our career is an avenue to shine God’s light to this dark world. Thus let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and they should glorify your Father in the heavens.
Thank you for reading and God bless you.
