Dealing with Life’s Many Woes

Young woman walking on the edge of a urban building wall at city

If we will be sincere, life never ceases to throw sorrows, pain and troubles at us, something always seems to go wrong or not go right, this throws a lot of people out of balance, and leaves them shattered every single time, this is a lot of us by the way.

But there are some people that despite the woes life shoot at them, they never seem to be affected, they always come up tops, how do they do it?

Consider this story;

There was a little girl, whose mum died at child, but was being raised by her father, she has never for one doubted his love for her, he makes sure she lacks nothing, he provides, protects and guides her, but it happens that he had to travel for a while on a work assignment which of course she shouldn’t follow him. So he asked that she stays with a family friend for a while.

His trip had a definite duration of time for which he will be a way, one year to be precise.

In this space of one year, she was exposed to a totally separate life, one where her new daddy isn’t a responsible one, never provides, never protects and never guides his kids, it was a very new, strange and uncomfortable life, she had to go many nights without food, got beaten some times by bullies and made some bad decisions, but in all these you will never see her sad or complain, she was always the most joyful kid in school, cheerful, even after being slapped by a bully classmate she responds with a smile, when there is nothing to take to school for lunch, she goes dancing either ways, do you know why?

She was certain when her father comes all will go back to normal, she knew this sadness and sorrow won’t last forever, it was on a matter of time, actually, it has a definite expiring date, one year. If she can just hold and survive that transitioning period, she will definitely enjoy the time to come.

Don’t lose focus and the lesson in this by asking questions like why did the father leave her…focus on her response to where she found herself, to the situation she couldn’t control.

Let’s bring this home;

God is the father, we are the daughter, this world is that family friend.

When we fix our gaze on the character of our father, knowing He is love, He cares about us and has all the power and resources to fulfill all His promises to us, we will stand strong in the storm.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. – 1 Pet 5:7

Let your response to whatever happens be JOY.

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

Like the little girl who knows her daddy is coming for her, smile through the storm.

Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning. – Psalms 30:5

And don’t think of this like an endure the phase thing, you can actually call on God and be assured that He will answer. He is a present help in times of need.
