“For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time.”
Hebrews 10:10 NLT
Let me explain the above verse – Your debts have been settled. Your sins have been forgiven (past, present & future sins) once and for all!
Guess what!!!! God holds no record of your sins. “And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” – Hebrews 10:17 KJV. See? God doesn’t remember them!
Why then do we find it so hard to forgive ourselves when we go against His will? I’ve been there before…… I’ll share my story.
I made a huge mistake sometime last year that I beat myself up for. Even after crying out my heart to God, I knew God had already forgiven me but I felt like I needed some sort of punishment. The fact that I did something so wrong against God & against my own body and I didn’t get punished for it didn’t just settle with me.
Guess what!!!! God holds no record of your sins. "And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." – Hebrews 10:17 KJV. See? God doesn’t remember them! Click To TweetIt didn’t feel right. So, I chose not to forgive myself. Even when I tried to forgive myself, it didn’t work. I hated myself so much for committing that sin. And guess what? I gave the devil food to feast on – guilt. I kept hearing this voice in my head telling me I’m not good enough. I’m not worthy of going back to God.
Not worthy of God’s love.
“Continue in sin cause God won’t take you back”
All because of a one time sin! I really was hard on myself.
Fast forward to when I decided to move on regardless of what the voice in my head was saying.
Then I heard the grace message by Pastor Iren
That was a turning point in my life.
That message transformed my life.
That day, I asked myself: “Oyin, did you do anything to deserve God’s love? Nothing! Why then do you think he’d stop loving you for doing something wrong? Oyin, nothing can separate you from God’s love. God can’t love you more, neither can he love you lesser than he already does. My Father’s arms are always open to receive me.”
I forgave myself that minute and my life never remained the same!
In case you didn’t know, when you choose to resent yourself, you’re feeding the devil & giving him a free tool to use to manipulate and push you away from God.
I understand that it’s hard – very hard sometimes but it’s not impossible
Let go & let God
Forgive yourself & never go back into that sin.
You’re worthy of God’s love. You’re God’s child & like the prodigal son, he’s more than joyful to have you back in His arms.
Do you know the joy in heaven when one soul is won for Christ? Picture the celebration that happened when the prodigal son returned home.
Don’t listen to that voice in your head. God loves and wants you back home.Forgive yourself, let go & run to God. He’s your Father, a loving Father.
Take it from someone that has been in your shoes. You can do it. I did it! You can too.
