How Can Gods Love Be Unconditional If It Has Requirements? #AskLifegiva

Question: When we say God’s love is UNCONDITIONAL, do we mean that or are we used to saying it because it sounds good? God has requirements of his people for them to be his people. They have to believe and they have to subscribe. Why them do we say it has no conditions?

For the most part of my life, I had thought that God didn’t love me. One big reason was because it was me, but it was understandable and conceivable to my small mind.

Duh, this was me: Sinner like no other, with gbogbo sinful thoughts. Let’s not forget that some “faithful” evangelist won’t cease to remind you of your place as a sinner. You are undeserving of God’s love, he doesn’t love you ungodly fellow!

Well, almost 8 years ago, I learned that God loves me and even till now, my small mind is so overwhelmed at how loving He is. I realized that He loved me even when I didn’t care one bit for Him; He would do anything to make me His. Except forcing me.

Apparently those faithful evangelists didn’t understand that even though we were undeserving, God poured His love on us without any reservation and all over scripture, God’s unending love shown to us is recorded.

We see His love in how God became man just so direct access to Him can be restored. I mean, He stooped that low.  Philippians 2:7 says He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant!

Instead, he gave up his divine privileges (he made himself nothing); he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, – Philippians 2:7

Romans 5:8 says God demonstrated His love by Him dying even while we were sinners. He took the first step to initiate a relationship with you.

He didn’t wait for you to beg Him, “rub his head”, massage His “ego”, hold fasting and prayer sessions, sing songs of praise and worship, tear your clothe in mourning, cry hot tears, before He said “wo, let me just love this people joor. They have realized there are wrong and are sorry”.

He did all His public display even before you realized that you needed it. Do you even know that God sending Adam out of the Garden of Eden was an act of love? No? Let’s check it out.

Gen 3 vs 21: “And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever

God knowing that man would sin, already made a provision for mankind to be redeemed through the sacrifice of His son. Now, if man had eaten from the tree of life in His sinful state, man would have lived forever as a sinner; making him irredeemable (because he’s already eternally a sinner).

Do you see that? Man’s banishment from the garden was an act of love, mercy, protection.

So, the problem isn’t with God, it’s with us. Mankind sinned and it created a divide between us and God. God, as a just God has to punish sin and He did by pouring it all on Jesus.

The only thing that can make it work is your consent, your yes, your believing, and your accepting His public display of love.

He gave us a free will, He doesn’t force it down our throat and He will never do that. He woos and pursues until you accept Him.

Would it still be love if you are rid of your choice to accept or reject? Would God be just if we were all created robots and loving and submitting to Him by default? Definitely not.

God has made provision for our salvation and all that is required is that we believe, just believe, nothing else.

Question is, will you?
