I’m currently reading ‘You and Me: Marriage in Light of Eternity’ by Francis and Lisa Chan. You can get the book for free via a free app on both Apple and Android platforms.
In Chapter 4, Francis talks about the mission of the Christian – to make disciples for Christ as He enjoined us to in Matthew 28:16-20 before He ascended to Heaven. One of the benefits of the mission he lists is the provision of financial security. On the security provided as noted in Matthew 6:33, he makes some interesting and profound statements.
“Financial security is not a bad thing, but it depends on where you find you security.”
On Matthew 6:31-33, he says; “The problem with the promise is that it’s not enough for most of us… We want Him to guarantee us a certain standard of living. We’re not satisfied with a promise that He will meet our needs.”
“God is aware of our needs and He will meet them as He sees fit. We will eat, but may not be able to eat out. We will have clothes, but they may not match. We will have water, but it may not be bottled. For the content, this is a great promise… the kingdom seeker is always secure.”
“I see so many building their own kingdoms.”
This was the line that pointed me to this song by JJ Heller off her ‘Deeper’ album. It’s titled – “In The End”.
Whatever kingdom may be built, in the end the Kingdom that matters is His.
