Today I am reminded that life is in seasons. The earth reminds me of this every time- from rainy days, to times when all is dry, to harmattan when lips are cracking and peeling.
This musing started during church service. The Pastor announced it was time for baby dedication. The choir started singing and the new mother danced with all her might. I was so happy and even though I sat through it all, I moved in my seat to the music and watched, with longing, the joy on her face. A part of me wanted that phase in my life to come quickly.
“Today’s a gift, and enjoy it. Live it, don’t spend the currency of today yearning for tomorrow so much that you won’t notice that it is almost gone.” I whispered to myself. Holding my bag closer, I said again, “I will maximize being young, before the cares of marriage and motherhood occupy my youth”.

Click To TweetAfter leaving church, I followed my aunt to a birthday party. Her colleague was celebrating her 50th birthday. If I had forgotten that life was indeed in seasons, that party knocked the truth right in. Here was this wonderful woman celebrating her Golden jubilee, and there I was, 21 and loving it. I realized that was her own time to be there, and even she must have been young once. If we do not chill and enjoy the different scenes of our life’s movie, we will only come to the reality that time has passed when the credits start rolling.
