Write it down: The Journey to Significance

I’ve got to discover that there is a strong power in a pen put to use. Having dreams is one thing; actually accomplishing them is quite another. The first step in bridging the gap between a dream and reality is to write down your goals.
The truth is that you merely have a wish if you do not write your goals down. If you have a goal, write it down. If you do not write it down, you do not have a goal – you have a wish.

The bible in Habakkuk 2:2 says “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

When was the last time you actually wrote an idea down with your actual hand? Today, using a pencil or pen is becoming very rare.
Writing is “speaking to another consciousnessthe reader’ or another part of the self. Some of us think that writing is only for writers. But writing is for all of us.

Here is why you should consider writing your next thoughts down instead of typing them out:
  1. When you write, you filter your thoughts: You think deeply and connect your thoughts when you pull out a paper to write down an idea or a strategy. It’s not limited to words, either: Doing a quick sketch or diagram can sometimes be the key to focusing your thoughts and expressing hard-to-articulate ideas.
  2. Writing Articulates the Abstract: While ideas are broad and encompassing, words are limiting and linear. Use this to your advantage: Find the right language to express your next product, venture or thoughts. Writing out your thoughts takes them out of your head and forces you to capture them in a cohesive manner without potential distractions or aids like PowerPoint, spellcheck. Your scribbles can be both raw in concept and structured in words which is a powerful combination.
  3. Writing helps you remember what you were thinking: Whenever it comes to a big idea or some set of goals I need to achieve, until I put it on paper I notice I don’t act straight, I observe that not writing down your goals, strategy or plans limits your productivity.

When is the last time you tried writing down your thoughts, rather than typing things out, to get through a gridlock or to work out a strategy?
Whatever is it in you, it has to come out.

Either write something worth doing or do something worth writing, either ways writing is involved.

Have a great week.

God Bless you.
