Discussion – Must We Always Let Peace Reign?

“Urrrggghhhh… Why does he like having the last word all the time?” Kitan complained as she argued over Whatsapp with Deji. He accused her of habitually replying to his chats late. All her efforts to make him realize it wasn’t intentional fell on deaf ears or in this case, blind eyes.  ‘Doesn’t he understand the concept of busyness’? She wondered. Before she could blink twice, more accusations were pouring in.

I didn’t bargain for all this tonight. I just want to curl up and watch Lifegiva on YouTube. He could have asked me why I didn’t reply to his chats with an understanding tone. Surely I deserve the benefit of the doubt. It’s not like he replies my chats on time’, she muttered to herself, punching in  the following words in response to his accusations:

“Is that why you haven’t reached out in a while? So much for being friends.”

“Yes. I did so to put my theory to test. If you hadn’t said hello by now, I would have concluded you don’t care about this friendship. ” his reply tumbled in.

“SMH”, She muttered again. ‘Theory indeed! He is not winning this argument. Today na today. She silently resolved’.

That moment, the words “live peaceably with all men” echoed in her mind. She closed her eyes for a second and sighed.

“OK, I’m sorry. I will do better next time.” She typed.

Of course, he gloated and still had the last word. “You had better” was his reply. She rolled her eyes and mouthed to herself “Thank God peace is a gentleman or this matter wouldn’t have ended here.”

Guys, how does one deal with disagreements where both parties believe in the rightness of their individual stance?
