It’s time for another “My Playlist” article!
I love music! I love songs- especially edifying songs: songs that bring comfort and hope, songs that redirect our focus on the things that really matter.
This song is one of such songs. The Holy Spirit brought it to my remembrance recently while I was tuned in to my church’s online midweek service. My Pastor was emphasising various portions of scripture that assure us of safety and protection in Christ during these perilous times. While my pastor was highlighting certain verses of Psalm 91, I heard this song play in my mind. It’s a song I loved listening to in my teens. After service ended, I looked for it online and downloaded it. And yes, you guessed right, I put it on replay! As the song played and I sang along, the promises of God to me began to unfold in my mind-before long, I began to speak in tongues.
I was in my parents’ sitting room, for more than 30 minutes, singing and praying while this song played and again. It was wonderful! So wonderful, I knew I had to share the song with you.
As you can tell by the title of this article, it’s a song by Hillsong- led by their then worship leader, Darlene Zschech. It’s one of the songs in the album “Blessed” which was released in 2001. Isn’t it awesome that a song from almost 19 years ago still speaks to our present situation? Edifying songs are evergreen!
Enough said I will just allow the song to speak for itself. Please find its lyrics and video below.
Made Me Glad by Hillsong Live Lyrics
Verse 1: I will bless the Lord forever
And I will trust Him at all times
He has delivered me from all sin
And He has set my feet upon a rock
And I will not be moved
And I’ll say of the Lord
Chorus: You are my shield,
My strength,
My portion,
Deliverer,
My shelter,
Strong tower
My very present help in time of need
Verse 2
Whom have I in Heaven but You?
There’s none I desire beside You
You have made me glad
And I’ll say of the Lord
Chorus: You are my shield,
My strength
My portion,
Deliverer
My shelter,
Strong tower
My very present help
You are my shield,
My strength
My portion,
Deliverer
My shelter,
strong tower
My very present help in time of need
You have made me glad
And I’ll say of the Lord
My very present help in time of need
