MASTERING THE ART OF JOY – Pastor Emmanuel Iren

Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: – 1Pe  1:8

Isn’t it interesting that you are in love with God whom you have never seen? Practically speaking, that is hard to imagine. For a carnal man, I have to see you to love you. In fact, isn’t it a common saying that “Out of sight is out of mind”? But in the spirit, seeing before you believe or love is unbelief. When Thomas heard of the resurrection of Jesus, he said he’d only believe when he sees for himself. Sure enough, Jesus appeared to him but was impressed.

He said: “…Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” John 20:29.

Hallelujah. I’m blessed because I didn’t have to see to believe. Not only do I believe, I love. Not only do I love, I rejoice!

Rejoicing is a crucial aspect of our faith. What we have is good news to the world. We act like it is. We boast in it. It’s interesting that our joy is qualified in the text. “We rejoice with joy unspeakable”. The expression and repetition “rejoice with joy” should draw your attention to the fact that this is a delight affair.

Yes, we rejoice and our joy is unspeakable; too awesome for words! Paul said the same thing when he said:

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift” – 2 Corinthians 9:15.

As believers, we are having the time of our lives. What’s more? We’d be in this bubble of perpetual joy forever. Glory to God.

Spend your day meditating on the goodness of God in Christ today. Spend your day loving and rejoice. Master the art of joy.

Have an awesome day.
