In a world full of cravings, aspirations and desires, a lot could could pose as a substitute to meeting the yearnings of the human heart. It could be wealth for some, a good relationship or family, a measure of popularity or success for others, but Sooner or later we will all come to the realization that nothing satisfies the dare hunger of our heart like one thing, God.
The richest and most comfortable of men (in earthly standard) have come to points in their lives they feel empty desiring to be filled by essence no earthly inheritance or possession can provide.
Take the great King David for instance, he came to a point of realization and admission when he made this striking statement “Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. – Psalm 73:25″ and also in Psalm 16:2, “I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.“
Paul also, having a lot of ground to boast of earthly achievements said, “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ – Philippians 3:8″
The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I’m tearing up and throwing out with the trash—along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ. Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant—dog dung. I’ve dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him. – Philippians 3:7-9 (MSG)
