While hiding in the library in order not to bump into the school’s (my NYSC place of assignment’s) principal (gist for another day), I decided to keep myself engaged by going through the old, dusty and hardly opened books on the bookshelf, a book that caught my fancy was the “America’s History Encyclopedia“, and from all I read, this took a stronghold on my fascination. It’s a painting titled “The Drunkards Progress” by Nathaniel Currier. Going through it, I laughed and couldn’t agree any less.
So I decided to share and ask for you guys opinion.
The Drunkards Progress. From the first glass to the grave.
Step 1. A glass with a friend.
Step 2. A glass to keep the cold out.
Step 3. A glass too much.
Step 4. Drunk and riotous.
Step 5. The summit attained. Jolly companions. A confirmed drunkard.
Step 6. Poverty and disease.
Step 7. Forsaken by Friends.
Step 8. Desperation and crime.
Step 9. Death by suicide.
What step are you on?
Do you think this painting/steps truly depict “the drunkards progress”, because it actually begins with a glass with a friend. Either willingly, out of intimidation or pressure.

Yeah sure it looks exaggerated……bcos it is read between a space of thirty seconds…..Buh in reality, it’s years and years of “getting used to” n then all of a sudden one gets stuck….really stuck
“America’s history encyclopedia”, the ability of America to analyze things and present in a most understanding way for beta solution is their strong point and is really paying off
