Persistence in Prayer

Text: 1 Thess 5:17

“Pray without ceasing”

Knowledge in the word of God is not for intellectual stimulation, the word of God is for doing, We must build a culture of implementing what we learn in God’s word.

(James 1:22) The bible places special emphasis on prayer and even on persistence in the place of prayer. We are to spend time in the place of prayer.

Eph 6:18

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

Rom 12:11-12

“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”

Contrary to popular belief that Faith in God involves short prayers, bible shows us that we should display trust in God when we persevere in the place of prayer. We are to pray until we get a note of victory in our spirit.

Luke 6:12

“And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.”

Jesus Himself took out time to pray and fellowship with the Father.

Act 6:4

“But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” Like the apostles we must give attention to prayers and to the ministry of the Word of God.

Build a lifelong culture of prayer.
