It is a misconception that being single automatically translates to being lonely. This is because there are some people who are married and yet very lonely. Everyone regardless of their marital status has faced loneliness from time to time. It becomes an issue when it becomes regular and in fact, a way of living. This is what some call chronic loneliness.

Honestly, I don’t mean to sound like that aunt or uncle who is always ready with tips on how to get married by year end. But this can help a great deal especially if you don’t live with family or you live alone. Build healthy relationships and go out more. It may be to church or a support group or a give-back society. Realistically, you cannot be around people 24/7 all year round. It is impractical. For some, the reason why they feel a void every time they are alone is because that void is meant to be filled by God. No matter, how many things you try to fill that void with, only God can truly satisfy.
So you may need to ask yourself if you have a relationship with God and settle that first. If you do have a working relationship with God, then maybe you need to learn what Dr. Myles Munroe of blessed memory would call ‘singleness’. This is the ability to function well and even thrive alone whether you are in or out of a relationship. So you may need to pause, learn more about yourself and practice enjoying your own company so when the right fellow comes, it is double fun and not a burden to the other fellow.
