The Spirit of Faith
For Christ’s love compels us, since we have reached this conclusion: If One died for all, then all died. And He died for all so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but for the One who died for them and was raised. – 2Corinthians 5: 14 – 15
As Christians, we are marked by our active participation in the propagation of the gospel. In 2nd Corinthians 5: 19 – 20, Paul calls us ambassadors for Christ. This means we represent Christ. We live for His purpose and His will. If Jesus Christ was in this world today, what do you think will be the most important thing on his mind?
We have received a Faith that compels us to lay down our lives for His purpose. No necessarily to die literarily, but to live our lives for His pleasure. Paul in Philippians 1: 21 says, “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. Death is gain in this Faith we have received because we have an assurance of eternity. A hope that when we die, we resurrect in new bodies to live forever.
Hence since we have this hope, we are reckless with this body. We understand by faith that eternal life is guaranteed through Jesus Christ. We know that anyone who believes in Him and His finished works qualifies for an inheritance so great, words cannot begin to describe.
So, with conviction we spread His truth and His love. We let the world know that salvation can only be found in Jesus. We spend all we have and are for the advancement of this message. We live simply for His pleasure.
We are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. 10 We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who live are always given over to death because of Jesus, so that Jesus’ life may also be revealed in our mortal flesh. 12 So death works in us, but life in you. 13 And since we have the same spirit of faith in keeping with what is written, I believed, therefore I spoke, we also believe, and therefore speak. 14 We know that the One who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and present us with you. Indeed, 15 everything is for your benefit, so that grace, extended through more and more people, may cause thanksgiving to increase to God’s glory.
16 Therefore we do not give up. Even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day. 17 For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. 18 So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. – 2Corinthians 4: 9 – 18
We have the Spirit of Faith. We have the supernatural motivation to keep telling people about Jesus, irrespective of the challenges we will face. Persecutions will come, but the worst is death. But glory to Jesus, because in death, we are joined to the object of our faith forever.
Grace and Peace.
