STAYING FRESH

2 Pet 3:18

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

It is God’s will for us as Christians to always stay on point in our walk with him, always growing and experiencing progress and joy in the faith.

One important way to keep yourself revived in your walk with God is to pray in the Spirit.

Eph 5:18-20

“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”

Paul admonishes the church not to get drunk in wine but get intoxicated in the Spirit of God. How? By praying and singing in tongues making melodies from their hearts unto God. By praying in tongues you edify yourself.

1 Cor14:4a

“He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself;”

 Jude 1:20 -21

“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,  Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.”

Is there any point when you think you need edification, go ahead and pray in the spirit; pray in tongues.  Get drunk in the Spirit.  Set out time to pray every day. Be intentional.

Rom 12:2

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

To stay fresh, you also need to commit yourself to the word of God. There is a renewing of your mind that takes place when you spend time in the Word of God.

Paul had to commend the church to the Word of God. He was so sure the Word was able to build them up.

Acts 20:32

“And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.”

We must trust the word of God and give ourselves wholly to it.

DO THIS:

Commit yourself to the Word of God and to praying in the spirit this week.

PRAYER POINT:

  • Go ahead and pray extensively in the spirit.
