Have you ever wondered who determines what is right and what is wrong? Is it man or God?
Let me explain; the reason we can incriminate someone who takes the life of a fellow human is because the law of the country says it’s a criminal offense. Now imagine, if there was no law and every individual is left to determine their own right and wrong. That would lead to chaos, right?
This question is relevant today more than any other time because there is a constant argument denying the existence of God. If there is no superior being we all answer to, how then do we decide whose opinion of right and wrong is accurate?
Here is a recent happening that sheds light to this right or wrong matter:
If we are our own source of morality, it will forever keep shifting to suit our personal interest which won’t always be in everyone's interest. Click To TweetJust a few decades ago, marriage between same sex was illegal. But today, it’s accepted in many countries. Even now, we see certain people fighting for the legalisation of having sexual relations with a child because such feelings comes naturally to them.
Now do you see where the problem? If we are our own source of morality, it will forever shift to suit our personal interest and will not always suit everyone’s interest.
China Mcclain, took out time on her instagram to address this argument recently. She made a case against determining right and wrong outside of God.
According to her, If you take away God and the Bible, all we have left is the socially acceptable and socially unacceptable. Without God, how do we really know what’s wrong or right? In her exact words, “society standards are not enough.”
In an age like ours where it’s becoming harder to preach the truth of God’s word, it’s encouraging to see an influential person boldly preach and defend the gospel.
The truth is there’s no morality outside of God. Everytime we debate about right or wrong, we acknowledge there’s a higher law/standard, and a law giver- God.
