The major reason I never entered into a relationship (romantic) in my secondary school, and maybe until now was the thought that I will always find someone better. This was what I use to tell myself, in secret of course “Tolu, just endure this period, you sure don’t want to get hooked down in secondary school when you will probably find someone more beautiful when you get to the university”. And you have to know that I don’t want break ups as I don’t want histories of broken relationships.
And true to myself, I have always found someone more beautiful as years roll over the next. But I was never delivered from this trouble waiting to happen, that might leave me a single till death or give me a trouble to be faithful to my wife until I understood what beauty really is.
We surely have our earthly measure of beauty; not too short, not too fat, master crafted curves, smooth skin, great lips….the list is endless. But let me ask you a sincere question. Have you seen your mum’s picture when she was young? Does she look the same way she is now as she was 40 years ago? NO! She has gone through so much change; I won’t have married my mum 30 years ago based on looks, but look at her now, WOAH!!! OMG! She is beautiful.
You are not beautiful because you meet the worlds standard of beauty, you are beautiful because your maker looked at you after you were made and in His opinion called you BEAUTIFUL.
Genesis 1:31 (AMP) And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely.
(MSG)… it was so good, so very good!
(TLB) …and it was excellent in every way.
I think you might find it interesting to know that among the other synonyms of the word “good” in that passage above is the word “beautiful which was exactly used to describe Esther and Bathsheba in Esther 2:7 and 2 Sam 11:2
So, If God says you are beautiful and the world says you are not; then someone must be lying, choose one; I choose the world because God knows you more than they do and it is impossible for him to lie. So the next time someone tells you that you are not beautiful, you might want to shut them up.
And for those that think you are beautiful because of all them curves and smooth skin, two advice for you. Shine while it lasts, and Take pictures.
And to the guys reading this, I also have two pieces of advice for you; there is more to beauty than meet the eyes so be wise, use your head. Recognize, embrace and celebrate true beauty.
I have had you in mind and decided to finally let this out. You are beautiful.

That was a masterpiece. Beauty is indeed more than what is defined in books. It is not the curves we see, it is not the hair or the completion we see. It’s just what God says we are- we are BEAUTIFUL!
Yes we because He says we are.Thank you for reading 🙂
